Idol 8.0: 8th Place Finalists
The Top 8 takes the stage tonight, and here are the 8th place finalists of Idol past. With the exception of Michael Johns, who should have stuck around longer, and may still be a success outside of Idol (though I still say he should team up with Carly and become the new Captain and Tennille), they're all footnotes to the show, aren't they? Who, besides me, remembers Rickey Smith and Haley Scarnato? But one of these people has actually had a #1 album and 3 top 10 singles. Any guesses which? The answer at the end.
Season 1, AJ Gil:
Season 2, Rickey Smith:
Season 3, Jon Peter Lewis:
Season 4, Nadia Tuner:
Season 5, Bucky Covington:
Season 6, Haley Scarnato:
Season 7, Michael Johns:
So who had the #1 album? It was, of course, Bucky Covington, who, though miserable for nearly every second of his time on Idol is one of many successful alums from Season 5. Jon Peter Lewis gets honorable mention. He hasn't hit the charts, but continues to work as a successful musician. Power to you, JPL.
Labels: AJ Gil, American Idol, Bucky Covington, Haley Scarnato, Jon Peter Lewis, Michael Johns, Nadia Turner, Rickey Smith

That Bucky Covington is such a cutie. So happy for his post-idol success. It was tough season with Taylor, Elliot, Chris D and Kellie P. for sure.
Bucky is a living doll!
I think Michael Johns will be a success outside of Idol. He should haven't finished much, much higher than 8th place. He has his new single coming out next Tuesday, 4/14 and his album coming out June 23. I will definitely be buying. If you haven't heard his duet with Brooke White yet - check it out. It's "Life is Okay" on iTunes, etc.
A Bucky clip! Blast from the past! Cool, I love Bucky!!!!
Speaking of Bucky, he's got a brand new single, "I Want My Life Back" that is due out next week! You can get a sneak peak of the song at his myspace page, it's awesome!!!
